UFC lightweight champion vs WEC lightweight champion

With the new merger of WEC and UFC there is a whole new range of possibilities when it comes to interesting match-ups. Joe Silva will have a whole new line of talent, that is waiting for their chance to be tested on the big stage.

The first and most obvious super fight that comes to mind with this merger is in the lightweight division. Something fans have always craved is to see a super fight between two different promotion's champions. The UFC has never show interest in doing such fights, not wanting to risk the possibility its elite fighters losing to a smaller promotions belt holder. While that could cause questions to arise about the UFC truly having the best of the best and nothing but the best, but its also a fight the fans would go crazy for!

Frankie Edgar with face off against Gray Maynard at UFC 125, and Anthony Pettis will face WEC lightweight champ Ben Henderson. The winner of each bout will eventually face off to determine who will be true UFC lightweight Champion of the world. We could potentially see Frankie Edgar vs Ben Henderson in a UFC vs WEC lightweight super fight for world title. We could also end up watching Anthony Pettis fight Gray Maynard for the title, or Pettis vs Edgar. No matter how you slice it, the fans win on this one! Two lightweight champion belt holders will walk into the octagon, only one will emerge as the true UFC lightweight champion of the world.
